Fond Farewell to Co Trio

Following on from regaining the Scottish title last month the Co-operative Funeralcare Band has to announce the departure of three friends.

Paul Kiernan has been an integral member of the band for more years than he’d care to mention. His playing and leadership on the Solo Trombone chair over the years has been inspirational and has helped the band towards many of our contest successes. Paul has also fulfilled the roles of Band Manager and Chairman during various periods and was once described by 4barsrest as "the beating heart of the band". Sadly however, the time has come for Paul to step down as he takes on the Musical Director role at Tullis Russell Mills Band as they look towards returning to the Championship Section next year. We wish Paul all the very best in his new exciting venture, and thank him for his enormous contribution over the years.

Andrea Casey has decided to step down from the Flugel seat and goes out on a high after not only helping the band retain the Scottish title earlier this year but also taking the Flugel prize along the way. This has been an emotional decision for Andrea, however she felt it was the right time to go. The band will miss her dedication and diligence.

Lorraine McLeod stepped in to bolster the back row last year but has now had to take a step down due to work and travel commitments. Lorraine has been an asset to the cornet section and we wish to thank her publically for her commitment to the Co.

This trio will be sorely missed not only for their ability and commitment to the band, but also their personalities. We’d like to thank them all for being excellent Co-op members and we’re sure that they’ll still be supporting us from the sidelines in the future. They will always be welcome at our bandroom.

An announcement will be made shortly on replacements to these roles.
