New players at Co-op

The Co-operative Funeralcare Band announce the addition of two new players to complete their line-up in advance of the forthcoming Scottish Open Brass Band Championships.

Duncan McLuskie has joined the band on Eb Bass from The Dalmellington Band. Duncan spent his formative years at Dalmellington under the guidance of the late Hugh Johnstone MBE and in recent years has developed into one the most sought after young tuba players in Scotland. We are delighted to have him on board.

Lorraine McLeod has joined on the band on 3rd cornet to complete the section. Lorraine has played assistant principal cornet with the Clackmannan Band for many years and we are very pleased she has joined the band, bringing her wealth of experience to the team.

Band Chairman Chris Davies said of the appointments 'this continues our steady progress in building a stable band for the future. Lorraine and Duncan are true bandspeople and good players, which is a rare combination. Their addition to the team gives us a full band of our own, which we haven't had for some time'. He added, 'the importance of having a regular team of players that meets consistently should not be underestimated, and the fruits of this approach are already being seen with the band achieving top ten finishes at the British Open and the National Finals, progress that we intend to continue over the coming months and years.'
